In about a week and a half, I have the incredible honor to be the Keynote speaker at Global Game Jam Hamar, in Norway! I will be talking about working as a voice actor, and how game audio and voice acting impact us on emotional levels. I’ve been a part of some incredible projects that have affected players in very deep ways, so it’s exciting to explore that more.
Another reason why this experience is precious to me is that I can honor the memory of Jory Prum, who was a dear friend and fantastic audio engineer for so many projects I am grateful to be a part of. He absolutely loved life and people- his legacy lives on in so many of us. Norway was one of his favorite places to be… I’m absolutely honored to speak in his name, surrounded by so many who admire him too.
Huge thanks to the Hamar Game Collective for making this happen- I can’t wait to see everyone!
A few weeks ago I took a train for about 5 minutes to a Con in my own city. Kraken Con, a fantastic Anime extravaganza, took place at the Oakland Convention Center on a very hot weekend at the beginning of October. Indian Summer, we call it.
I was thankful for the air conditioning! Continue reading →
A few years ago a huge dream came true for me- I was cast in a Cartoon Network pilot created by Sean Szeles called The Royals. It was especially exciting because when I read for the character of Alex, he just really clicked with me- and I wanted that part really really bad.
Now… this is a dangerous prospect, as I try my best to audition and forget about it- when I want a part too much, it can sting pretty bad when the opportunity is lost.
In this case though, it went better than I dreamed!!
I drove down to Los Angeles for the session, and admittedly, it was a bit intimidating to be in a room with so many amazing actors. Wes Gleason directed us and with such a group, it was a lot of fun!
A week from today I will be breathing tropical air…. surrounded by all things kawaii. I’m really excited to be a part of Hawaii’s premiere anime convention, Kawaii-Kon!
One of my many goals over the past few years has been to Continue reading →
For those of you who have already enjoyed the game, or are just playing now, I thought I’d share some clips of my performance as Lilly in Telltale Games- The Walking Dead.
Lilly may be misunderstood – but you can’t deny that she fights for what she cares about. Many players have very strong feelings about her character- but what would you have done if you’d lost all you love and had nothing left?
I’ve been home for almost a week from one of the most incredible experiences in my career as an actor so far; a very affirming and exciting time… and something that I will never forget.
I really didn’t know what to expect at the Nordic Game Conference, but what I encountered was completely wonderful and very exciting in so many ways.
It all began with a steak dinner at Jory’s favorite place. Dave and Eric arrived and we all met to talk and realize that yes, this was really happening! Another fun thing about that night was meeting a lot of Norwegians and some other really cool Nords and non-Nords too. Good dinner, great company.
I was there and it was real!
Wednesday was Indie Game Night at the Conference, so people were sharing their games; there was lots to drink and many business cards exchanged. It was especially fun because I spent most of the night hanging out with Tim Schafer, and Continue reading →
